Nostalgia !!! Adieu to ORKUT. . A final walk thru the scraps, testimonials and many more !

Feeling nostalgic, logging into orkut after a long time to recollect many special memories of our generation’s first social networking site. Remember how till some time back it was one of the coolest thing to be on Orkut.

We were in a NO-APP No-candy crush zone, with no smartphones around ORKUT was best site to kill the time and have loads of funn.
Digging into ORKUTTING days and taking a final walk through the memories. >NOSTALGIA<
Way back in 2008, during our fresher’s day, a bunch of seniors were ragging me, the question asked by one of my senior after getting to know my name was .. “are u on orkut?? “ !!  Butterflies in stomach !! I responded like .what orkut?? What.  She said - “Arey jaa orkut pe register kar le pehle”.

From there the journey of social networking started and I used to spend most of the time in hostel internet centre. Sending friendship requests to everyone was so common;  connecting to school friends  and writing numerous scrapbook entries became the regular routine after college hours. Most crazy part was finding ur crushes n viewing their profile regularly till they accepted friend request.

Clicking plenty of pics for showcasing a stylish pose to impress everyone and this is how DPs were born, which made everyone look much better than they actually did (ROFL a bitter truth -_-).
And ‘testimonials’?? how can we forget?. They were an assurance about our goodness, looks, style etc etc. . Begging friends and luring them by treats just to make them write testimonials on our profile.

Logging in to check the scrapbook entries not only of ours but of everyone. ‘Hey, I saw your scrap, why didn’t you scrap me?” Arguing and fighting over who has got highest scraps. !! it was much more cool if you had over a thousand scraps. It actually turned into a competition to have the highest number of scraps and people on your friend list.

I remember during my birthdays, the first thing I used to do was log in to ORKUT and check how many people wrote a scrapbook entry with all those graphic birthday wishes made the day most special.

Applying new themes to the profile, graphic fonts and names to attract everyone. We could also see who all visited our profile — it was really a cool feature, so we used to spend a lot of time in updating all the profile details.

Seeing my pics clicked in my 20s is the real fun, no less than watching a CARTOON show!

Our generation learnt about social networking through Orkut and it helped us big time getting in touch with long-lost school and childhood galli friends.
Orkut, to me, will be like a maruti 800 or a cassette tape recorder — which left us with lots of good memories so as to receive more better things.
Social networking now is all about 'likes', 'comments', ‘photo tags’, 'hastags' etc,

Finally Orkut gets buried in the graveyard of dead, the memories of our teenage first social networking memories will always remain strong.

REST IN PEACE - ORKUT  _/\_

  2. There is none other you can perform but hold back while the renew method is over. The best thing that you can perform is to review back after throughout 30 minutes to observe if you can now use the Yahoo Mail service.
