Couple of months back I had been to shimoga with my
colleague to attend and present a paper in ICICT conference at PESITM shimoga.
It was an awesome experience visiting the tiger reserve nearby PESITM and we
had loads of fun.
On May 6th we boarded the Belgaum bus from Shimoga
CBS and after few mins we got stuck in traffic. I was peeping outside the
window to see people rushing in every possible direction to move on and we were
stuck exactly at the signal. As we were waiting for the signal to go GREEN my eyes
caught attention of a poor young girl may be jus about 10 yr old. She had a
tiry look wearing torn clothes ultra-thin – malnourished, with a plate to beg
<I felt reeli bad seeing her>. She seemed very hungry as she slowly
opened a bread piece to eat. She took a bit and was about to take her next
bite, a stray dog was in front of her wagging its tail. She was so sensible
that quickly she put that bread piece on the road for the dog to eat. Dog sniffed the piece of bread and walked away. <It
was so stale that even dog refused to eat> .The very next moment ,the girl came, took that
bread piece and ate it without hesitation. <This shows how much hungry she
was. !sad! >. My heart cried and before I could see more of her
through the window, the signal turned GREEN and our bus drove away. Till I
reached Belgaum, I was thinking about that poor little gal.
Next day one of my friends treated our group as he had
got a lucrative job. Everyone of us enjoyed the treat, had loads of fun, but
the sad part was few of my friends wasted so much of food. It made me think
about that poor girl I saw in shimoga – “Wish I could help her “; but it was
too late. I started regretting that I could have stopped the bus and walked up to
her which I did not do :(
All I could do was “think-regret-think-regret” . Without
any hesitation the poor gal shared her bread with the dog, though she seemed
very hungry. Then I realized instead of wasting food like this one can satiate
their hunger according to their needs and save the rest of food to someone
else; someone who cannot afford a simple meal, not even once a day.
I still look back at that traffic-signal incident fondly
as I don’t know that little girl personally, but she taught me a lesson of
life. We should SHARE and help the people in need. Lets Make world a better
place to live :)
Very nice...Heart touching :-)
